Confusing due to a greater context (and that context being the series and its war-time setting as a whole, regardless of where/when the story takes place).

That is to say, its core mechanics, pacing, controls, as well as its overall enjoyability (I can attest to this and hold by my statement), however, the story and writing included within the game is confusing at best. New Gundam Breaker, running on Unreal Engine 4, is the most recent iteration of Bandai-NamcoвЂ™s entry into the gaming world and it is a rather enjoyable experience to say the least when it comes to actual gameplay. This unfortunate dependence on вЂњBrand LoyaltyвЂќ severely handicapped Gundam in its earlier days, but in recent years, itвЂ™s games have improved. As mentioned, I myself am a huge Gundam fan (and will keep this review as unbiased as possible), making me a member of their вЂintendedвЂ™ target audience, with the expectation that I (and others like myself) would put up with poor gameplay simply to be a part of the amazing world of Gundam. Gundam games have not been known for having the best scores, namely due to lazy programming and the insidious motivation for whoever involved in their publishing to simply depend on the вЂњcash grabвЂќ factor. New Gundam Breaker continues the mantle of the Gundam franchise in the gaming world, though it is not perfect by a long shot. And this has been the case since the inception of Gundam, the series, starting with Universal Century: 0079 (a conflict between the EarthвЂ™s Federation Government and a misinformed/misled group of heavily armed Space Colonists resembling Imperial Germans naming their movement вЂњZeonвЂќ in honor of an assassinated Philosopher-King that led them).

Having such an immense Universe, one would think that it would be ideal set up for video game tie ins. The Gundam Universe, in and of itself is an immense world, with a multitude of Universes, Timelines, and even cross-ed realities (some crossing over into Super Robot Wars). Having been a fan of Gundam since my introduction to the series during the Gundam Wing run Toonami, which (alongside The Big O and Outlaw Star) endeared and exposed me to the Mecha Genre (more-so than dare I say, Neon Genesis Evangelion), anytime I spot anything Gundam related while shopping in person at a store or simply passing throughвЂ¦I will physically stop and stare, go through the shopвЂ™s inventory, then decide whether or not I want to part with my cash in order to collect yet another part of JapanвЂ™s vast animation history.
